HAWTHORN BERRIES

Hawthorn is a valuable treatment for foot disorders such as navicular and laminitis. It is high in Vitamin P one of the bioflavonoid group with Vitamins K and C.   May also be useful in the treatment of heart strain and bleeders.

HOPS

Hops are one of the nervine herbs and can be used as a gentle sedative or tonic.  Other actions include, bitter digestive tonic, astringent, antimicrobial, diuretic and restoring tonic for the nervous system.

HORSERADISH

Horseradish is stimulating to the appetite and a pancreatic tonic.  It is high in Silica as well as containing potassium, phosphorous, iron, manganese, calcium, magnesium and selenium.  It is valuable for strengthening bones, as well as being used in the treatment of rheumatic and arthritic complaints.

 

LAVENDER

Lavender contains a volatile oil and is a significant antiseptic, also having anti-bacterial actions.  It has pain relieving actions as well as calming nervousness in horses.  It can relieve sleeplessness, headaches, irritability, bloating, wind, colic and indigestion.   It can also heal burns, wounds and sores.

LEMON BALM

Lemon Balm is mostly used as a tonic to help reduce tension and cramping in muscles, an antibacterial and antihistamine.  Externally it is used for painful swelling, inset bites and cuts or abrasions.

LICORICE

Licorice is widely used to soothe irritated mucous membranes, ease coughing, as an anti-arthritic, anti-inflammatory, mild laxative and antibacterial.

 

 

MARSHMALLOW

Marshmallow is soothing for the entire digestive tract and is beneficial for gastric complaints such as ulcers, colitis, bloat and inflammation.  Its healing properties are also helpful for the urinary tract.

MEADOWSWEET

This is one of the best digestive remedies available.  It is soothing to the mucous membranes of the digestive tract.  It is also an anti-inflammatory and contains pain-relieving compounds and can help to ease nausea.  Combines well with Marshmallow for digestive disturbances.
